So... I took a walk outside today, in Arizona, where it was 90 something degrees farienheit, and when I came in I had this rash. I was wearing sunscreen, and a hat, and sunglasses. Be warned, this is NOT a flattering picture. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x222/AmericanEgo/IMG_0778.jpg
Is it a butterfly rash? Does anyone elses face do this? Is it related to auto-immune?
You could call this a butterfly or a light reaction not a complete butterfly. I get more the classic shape of the butterfly, but this would definitely qualify.
Have you been able to find a rheumy yet? This would put me on more of a definite search to find one.

We all have somewhat different experiences with Lupus related rashes.
You do have a rash, and it might me a good idea to take this picture with you
to your dr, next time you see him.
I have had lupus for 14 years (that I know of), and as time goes on, I am more and more photosensitive. I can't even drive in a car with our sunscreen on my forearms and hands, now.
I can only suggest taking every protection measure possible to prevent exposure, and do get a profession opinion concerning this photo..
I know it is frustrating and cause for concern..I feel for you.
What time did you go for your walk? Going out late in the afternoon or early evening is the best time.
To me it looks like you are very photosensitive.
How are you feeling today?
I agree with Sandy make sure you take it to your doctor appointment.
I can be totally covered and rash anyway. It just happened to me on Saturday at football camp which didn't even begin until 4pm. That is why I try to stay out of the sun whenever possible.
Ive just been looking at the picture of your rash, it does look sore...did you take some antihistamine to help!
Looks like your eyelids are a little red too!
Erythema and ulticaria can occur even when covered! Ive been sat inside a car, wearing really thick jeans and still mananged to get a major rash.
I like others wear broad spectrum suncream, but this does not always help and nor does clothing.
You also have to remember that your eye area will not be totally protected even with the use of a hat, sunglasses, if they were we would not be able to see.
Due to my rashes and ulticaria I have to use antihistamine everyday as well as other useful Lupus meds...they do help along with avoiding the sun as much as possible, but I do still get rashes and wonder why!
Have you had any luck finding a suitable specialist?
Take care,
